Loud Bangs Heard In Tunnel Between Subway Stops
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Loud bangs were heard in a the tunnel that connects the Blue Line to the Red Line at Jackson Boulevard Thursday morning but police say it was not gunfire.
As of 9 a.m. police are on the scene investigating after "loud reports" were heard in the tunnel, which connects the Jackson Blue and Red Line subway stops at State and Dearborn streets, respectively, according to Central District police Lt. Richard Guerrero.
The lieutenant said it was not immediately known what the sounds were, but gunfire has been ruled out.
The underground pedway that connects the Red Line to the Blue Line was checked, according to CTA spokeswoman Wanda Taylor, who said, "No reports of shootings were found."
No injuries were reported.
