Loop Building Passes Out Blizzard Survival Kits

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago Loop apartment building is giving its tenants a little help to survive the winter storm.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Lisa Fielding reports, Michael Lojas, leasing director at 200 Squared at Wells and Lake streets, says all the talk of the snow made him think about his own residents.

He says if the snowstorm produces what is predicted, they may be in need of a survival kit.

"We have some water in there. We have some soup. We have chips, we have granola bars. We have cereal, milk, water kind of in a bag for them as well so that they can just kind of take that to their apartment; toilet paper as well, because, of course, everybody forgets about that until the snowstorms and you're snowed in, along with a bottle of wine as well, so that you can you can kind of relieve some of the stress and just watch the snow fall throughout the building," Lojas said.

Lojas says the building has about 100 survival kits to pass out. They will be back in the lobby with morning tenants.

He says one advantage of downtown living – no shoveling.
