Longtime Ald. Eugene Schulter Drops Out Of Race
CHICAGO (CBS) – A well-known North Side alderman has withdrawn his bid for re-election.
Eugene Schulter of the 47th Ward says he plans to retire from the City Council after spending 35 years on the governing body. He becomes the 11th alderman not to seek re-election Feb. 22.
Schulter put papers in last month to get an appointment to the Cook County Board of Review, the office Joe Berrios left when he was elected Cook County Assessor.
An ally of Schulter's, Tom O'Donnell, is also on the ward ballot.
