Listen: Pierzynski Responds To PED Rumors
(WSCR) Though it was never officially reported, rumors were circling this week, claiming White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
670 The Score subsequently reported that Pierzynski had not tested positive and would not be receiving a suspension from Major League Baseball.
On Friday, Pierzynski responded to those rumors.
"Apparently, certain people in the media - they know who they are, I don't have to mention them by name - they just go ahead and run stories and talk about stories on their air without getting sources," Pierzynski said. "It's a shame because people that don't do anything, and haven't done anything, can be targeted. You can pretty much say whatever you want on the Internet. It's the life we live and the world we live in. Unfortunately, it's happened to other people. This time, it just happened to be on me. It's over with now. Hopefully, people will find something better and we can talk about the White Sox instead of something that's completely baseless."
When asked if he was hurt by the erroneous reports, Pierzynski wasn't showing his hand.
"To be honest with you, what happens with me and my family is none of your business," he said. "What happens with me off the field is none of your business. So, I'm not going to talk about it."
