Life Moves Pretty Fast: Ferris Bueller Took His Day Off, 30 Years Ago Today
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- On this day, 30 years ago Ferris Bueller took his day off.
The John Hughes movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" wasn't released until June 11, 1986, but after enjoying a nice lunch downtown, Ferris (Matthew Broderick), Cameron (Alan Ruck) and Sloane (Mia Sara) attended the Cubs game versus the Atlanta Braves on June 5, 1985.
Larry Granillo did the detective work in this piece for Baseball Prospectus in 2011.
"The movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was released on June 11, 1986. The ballgame then must have been filmed either real early in the 1986 season or sometime during 1985."
Granillo is able to use clues from the play-by-play from a scene with Principal Rooney to draw his conclusion.
Thirty years.
Life does move pretty fast.
