License Branch Worker Charged In ID Theft Scheme
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A 22-year employee of the Illinois Secretary of State's office has been charged with conspiracy to commit identity theft.
Charles DiPrima, who works at the driver's license facility in Woodstock, gave customers' personal information to other people, according to David Drucker, a spokesman for Secretary of State Jesse White.

Those people in turn used that information to open credit card accounts. DiPrima allegedly passed along the information while working in the Libertyville branch three years ago.
DiPrima has been suspended without pay, and the state is taking steps to fire him from his nearly $50,000 a year position.
"The matter has been looked at for a little bit of time," said Drucker. "We did pursue it immediately." He said it was an isolated incident.
DiPrima appeared in court today in Waukegan and has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit identity theft, Drucker said. DiPrima, who is free on bond, faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
