Leshoure Officially Declares For NFL Draft
Yesterday, the news broke that linebacker Martez Wilson would be declaring for the NFL Draft. Now it appears his teammate Mikel Leshoure will be joining him.
"I believe I have accomplished everything I can at the college level and want to go after my dream: playing in the NFL," the the Champaign, Ill. native said during his press conference.
Leshoure was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection during his junior season at Illinois with 1,697 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Leshoure also received second-team All-American honors from The Associated Press.
He helped lead the Fighting Illini to an appearance in the 2010 Texas Bowl against Baylor University. Leshoure rushed for a Texas Bowl-record 187 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-14 victory for Illinois. He was named Texas Bowl MVP.
During his time at Illinois, Leshoure set a school record for points in a season as well as touchdowns in a season.
