GROBBER'S FRIDAY THOUGHTS---August 19,2011
----------------------------------------------------------
***The White Sox were supposed to continue their dominance of the Cleveland Indians and take over second place in the AL Central. But not only did the Tribe take two of three to leave Town 2 1/2 games in front of the Sox,but they almost swept the series. The Sox almost came up 'snake-eyes'. Now the Texas Rangers bring a six game winning streak to the South Side over the weekend while the Indians face the first place Detroit Tigers over the weekend.

***There will be two series in town this weekend. The Sox-Rangers at U.S.Cellular Field and the Cubs and Cardinals at Wrigley Field. Now granted Cubs-Cards is the top rivalry in baseball, but the Cubs are dead in the water while the Cards are sliding furture in back of the Brewers. The Sox and Rangers will be a much bigger series. That one should draw more, but the rivalry of Cubs-Cardinals will likely mean that more fans will be in Wrigley this weekend.

***No question, White Sox Fans want no part of seeing their tax dollars go into Tom Rickets plan to rehab Wrigley Field. And it appears that most Cubs Fans feel the same way.Remember, that while tax dollars went into the construction of both New Soldier Field and New Comiskey Park(now U.S.Cellular Field), that the Bears do not own Soldier Field and the White Sox don't own U.S.Cellular. The Cubs on the other hand DO own Wrigley.

***Lance Briggs will be out of Monday night's Pre Season event in the Meadowlands against the New York Giants, but if this were a regular season contest,he would be good to go.

***I have no problem with the NFL suspended Terrell Pryor for the five games he was banished for by the NCAA. But he should not be singled out. Roger Goddell needs to do this to any additional players in the same boat down the road.
