Len Kasper Signs Five-Year Extension With Cubs

CHICAGO (CBS) Cubs broadcaster Len Kasper has signed a five-year extension to remain with the team through 2016.
"Len Kasper is one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in the industry and has established himself as a knowledgeable and passionate voice to our great fans," team chairman Tom Ricketts said in a statement. "We are thrilled that Len will continue to call our games for years to come."
Kasper was in the final year of his contract with the Cubs, but it was widely assumed the popular television play-by-play man would remain with the team after this season.
Kasper and analyst Bob Brenly have been the Cubs' television team since 2005.
"I am beyond thrilled with the commitment from the Cubs, WGN and Comcast SportsNet," Kasper said in a statement. "The fans have been wonderful to me, working with Bob Brenly is tremendous and I'm humbled to have the best job in broadcasting. My hope is to be the television play-by-play voice for this great organization the rest of my career."
Before joining the Cubs' broadcast booth, Kasper spent time as a broadcaster for the Florida Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers. He is a graduate of Marquette University.
Brenly is signed through 2013.
