Lawyer: Ex.-Springfield Mayor Misspent Money
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A report filed in Sangamon County court says the former mayor of Springfield, who committed suicide last year, wrote himself nearly $80,000 in checks from the estate of a dead cousin.
Tim Davlin was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home on Dec. 14.
McDermott says a $203,750 cashier's check was written to an association that Davlin sat on the board of.
He says more than $340,000 was taken from Ettelbrick's estate without authorization.
Davlin died the morning he was to show up at a hearing to give a financial accounting for Ettelbrick's estate.
