Latest Chicago Weather Forecast

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Conditions will be comfortable and largely sunny for the rest of the day – and the work week – until snow and sub-freezing temperatures return just in time for the weekend.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, it was 34 degrees at both O'Hare and Midway international airports. The forecast high for the day is 36, with a mixture of sunshine spurred by the high-pressure ridge above the area, and clouds from the low-pressure trough to the west.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says a similar forecast is in store for Thursday, with a high of 41, plenty of sunshine, and west-southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.

The high for Friday is a still-comfortable 39, but after that, you can kiss this March-in-January spell goodbye.

A cold front now over the western plains will pass through on Friday night, bringing the possibility of about 1.5 inches of snow.

Come Saturday, the high is only 32, and on Sunday, 28.
