Latest Chicago Weather Forecast

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Light flurries have tapered off for most of the Chicago area, but lake effect snow in northwest Indiana could bring a lot of snow to that region by Tuesday.

Monday morning's snow quickly melted away in much of the area, but that wasn't the case in northwest Indiana, where lake effect snow could bring large amounts of snow.

As CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports, there is a winter storm warning in effect from Porter County to the east in northwest Indiana, as well as in parts of southwest Michigan.

Back in Chicago and the suburbs, the morning's light snow gave way to frigid temperatures and high winds. Temperatures will stay in the 20s throughout the day.

The high will only be 25 degrees in Chicago, with wind gusts up to 30 mph likely keeping wind chills in the single digits. There also might be a few more flurries the rest of the day.

Overnight, the temperature will drop down to about 12 degrees, with a wind chill as low as -3 degrees.

Luckily, the seven-day forecast calls for a steady rise in temperatures through Friday, when the high could hit 47 degrees, before a colder weekend, with a high of 40 on Saturday and 34 on Sunday.
