Last-Minute Shoppers Get A Break From Retailers
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Are you done yet? This weekend, procrastinators hit stores across the country, trying to wind down their Christmas shopping.
CBS 2's Courtney Gousman found out what retailers are doing to make it easy on last minute shoppers.
There are just two days left until Christmas. This is the last weekend to get your shopping done.
On State Street, shoppers are already out and about, trying to take advantage of the last minute deals. Retailers are helping them out by offering extended hours.
Places like Macy's are in the middle of a 65 hour stretch. They've been open since Friday at 7:00 am, and they're not closing until midnight Sunday.
Other retailers like Toys-R-Us and Target are also staying open much later.
CBS 2's Courtney Gousman talked to some shoppers earlier Sunday who say they don't mind the last minute dash.
"I just don't have the time. Weekends are the best time and the best deals," said Rick Correa.
"I avoid the crowds, then in and out. It's good for me," said C. Daniels, of Chicago.
Kimberly & Dan Bird tell us, "It's fun to do it right before Christmas and we ran out of time."
Retailers are also heavily relying on these last minute shoppers since holiday sales are down, despite a successful Black Friday this year.
