CHICAGO (CBS) -- A large police response was called Tuesday night at Trump International Hotel & Tower on the Chicago River, after a gun was found in a room.

Police said at 6:49 p.m., they were called to Trump Tower, 401 N. Wabash Ave., after an employee found a gun inside a room. Upon arrival, police took a person into custody without incident, police News Affairs said.

Police did not provide further information about the gun or the person arrested.

CBS News Chicago staff heard police sirens speeding past the station's studios at 22 W. Washington St. on the way to Trump Tower. Seven squad cars sped up Dearborn Street in a row.

A massive police response was seen at Trump Tower—with dozens of squad cars and an armored SWAT team car staged in front.

Police officers were seen going in and out of Trump Tower. Wabash Avenue was closed to traffic at Wacker Drive for some time, and pedestrians could not walk on the east side of the Wabash Avenue Bridge.

Streets reopened before 10 p.m., but many squad cars remained on the scene.

Former President Donald Trump was off the campaign trail Tuesday. He will be back on the trail in Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Next week, Trump is expected to be in Chicago—speaking at The Economic Club of Chicago downtown. Trump usually stays at Chicago's Trump Tower, his property, when he is in the city.
