Lance Briggs Placed On Injured Reserve
(CBS) This could be it for veteran Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has been placed on the reserve/injured list with a groin injury.
In 12 NFL seasons, all with the Bears, Briggs has recorded 1,564 tackles, 16 interceptions, 15 sacks, 19 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and six defensive touchdowns. His six defensive touchdowns are third most in franchise history.
Briggs has 63 tackles this season, including 2.5 tackles for losses, one interception, a forced fumble, two pass breakups and a quarterback pressure while starting eight contests.
The Bears didn't what Briggs' timeline for a recovery is. Briggs is in the last year of his contract with Chicago, which has struggled mightily on defense the past two seasons.
