Lake Zurich Man Charged With Having Hundreds Of Child Porn Videos
(STMW) -- A northwest suburban Lake Zurich man was arrested Thursday morning and charged with having and reproducing hundreds of child pornography videos.
Jonathon C. Crouter, 23, faces 10 counts of reproducing child pornography, a Class X felony, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff's office. The charge of reproducing child pornography occurs when an image is duplicated, distributed and stored on other electronic media devices.
Officers executed a search warrant early Thursday at Crouter's home in the 100 block of Pine Avenue in Lake Zurich and seized multiple electronic devices capable of storing electronic media, police said.
The media devices contained hundreds of videos of child pornography involving children younger than 13, and it was discovered that Crouter had reproduced several videos, police said. He had become the target of an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Cybercrimes Unit and the Lake County State's Attorney's Cybercrimes Unit.
Each Class X felony carries a possible sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Crouter is being held in the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing Friday.
