East Lakeview Man Charged In Home Invasions
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 23-year-old East Lakeview man has been charged with two North Side home invasions and attacks on female residents, and police are working to determine if he is responsible for others.
Jacob Reeves of the 3100 block of North Broadway has been charged with two counts of home invasion and one count each of aggravated battery and residential burglary, according to police.
In the most recent incident, Reeves awakened a 65-year-old woman early Sunday as she slept in her apartment, then repeatedly beat her and demanded money. Reeves ultimately fled with the victim's ID and various credit cards, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Reeves is charged with a similar attack that occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 10. In that attack, a 28-year-old woman screamed and fought off the attack before the offender fled with her laptop computer, IDs and various credit cards.
The locations of the attacks has not been specified.
Officers from the Belmont District Burglary Team and Belmont Area detectives were able to identify Reeves as the attacker after the victims provided a clear description and positively identified him, police said.
Police are working to determine whether he was involved in any additional attacks.
