Lack Of Respect Driving Fighting Irish
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish ended the regular season with a 26-6 record and the No. 5 team in the country according to the Associated Press. However, there is still a sense they're not a legitimate title contender.
"The thing about this Irish team is they're very blue collar," Notre Dame analyst Jordan Cornette said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "They've played with a chip on their shoulder all season long, because I feel like no matter how well they're doing in the rankings...they're still under everybody's radar. If you look at people's brackets, they have the Irish losing, well they're just not this use seeing Notre Dame this high in a bracket. So thing thing is, I think they're going in saying, 'OK, we still have something to prove. Yeah we're a two-seed, but we should be a one-seed, we should be getting that respect.' I think the lack of it is driving this team."
Despite missing out on a one-seed, the Irish got a pretty good draw by being placed in Chicago to play their opening game against Akron.
