Kris Versteeg Ready To Chirp With 'Big Baby' Jonathan Toews
(CBS) Now that Kris Versteeg plays for the Carolina Hurricanes, who is the Blackhawks player he's most eager to jaw with during Tuesday's tilt?
Without much hesitation, Versteeg said it's Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.
"He's just a big baby," Versteeg joked to the Hurricanes' official website. "An overgrown baby."
Versteeg played two stints with the Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010 and 2015. He was traded with Joakim Nordstrom in September as part of Chicago's effort to clear cap space.
Now as a key player with the Hurricanes, Versteeg has 10 goals and 20 assists in 49 games. He still reflects fondly on his time in Chicago.
"I have really memorable experiences," Versteeg said of his time with the Blackhawks. "When you're playing against your close buddies and an old organization, it gives you an extra motivation and energy to try and beat them."
