Korver Needs To Be More Aggressive On Offensive End
CHICAGO (WSCR) -- The Chicago Bulls' 104-99 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday wasn't the team's prettiest win of the season. It took 39 points from Derrick Rose and another 18 from Luol Deng to get past the eighth seeded Pacers.
If the Bulls want to avoid a similar lackluster performance, they'll need to get some scoring from their bench, and from one player specifically.
"In watching Kyle Korver throughout the season, one of the things that I've noticed is that he's one of these players that has to have a clean look to launch a shot," Mark Schanowski, of CSN Chicago, said on the Danny Mac Show. "If he comes off a screen and feels like he's going to be contested, he's going to immediately reverse the ball and not take the shot. It drives the coaches crazy. I've seen Derrick, on many occasions, yell at him to shoot the ball.

"He's supposed to be the three-point shooter, he set the NBA record last season hitting making 53-percent. He was brought in to take big shots. I think it frustrates the coaches at times that he's not more willing to pull the trigger."
Despite being hesitant to force a shot, Korver was 4-for-4 from three-point range on Saturday and finished the game with 13 points.
"I'd like to see him be much more aggressive on the offensive end," Schanowski said. "You know, if he missed a couple of shots, so what? Just try to keep shooting until you get into rhythm. I mean that's what great shooters do, they keep going until they find the touch."
The Pacers showed that they plan on packing the lane in order to stop Rose from getting to the rim. If that trend continues, Korver will have an even bigger role. The more effective Korver is, the more the defense will have to spread out and play the whole court, opening up lanes for Rose.
