Konerko, Jeter Both Questionable For Yankees-Sox Series
(CBS) Paul Konerko and Derek Jeter were both hit by pitches Sunday and it's possible both will be out of the lineup tonight as a four-game series between the Yankees and White Sox gets underway at U.S. Cellular Field.
Konerko was hit just under the left knee by Boston's Andrew Miller in the fourth inning Sunday. He went to first base after hobbling around for several minutes, but took himself out of the game when the inning was over. Konerko, who kept playing after getting hit in the face by a pitch last September, is one of the toughest players in the game, and while x-rays were negative Sunday, it's very possible he could miss some time this week.
Jeter, meanwhile, was hit in the right hand in the third inning Sunday and could also miss some time, according to the New York Daily News. Jeter was hit directly on his right middle finger, the same finger he jammed Saturday against the Orioles.
The White Sox host the Yankees in four straight games starting tonight at 7:10 p.m.
