Kids Get Free Back To School Haircuts At Chicago Police Station

The community room of the Chicago Police Department's 6th District was full of boys waiting their turn to get free haircuts.

Sgt. Ernest Spradley says 250 children took advantage of the program, even among heightened tensions following shootings by and of police.
"I believe the people that we reached out to have a little hesitancy if you will because of the things that are happening nationally with the police," he says.
He says the community building program is in its fourth year. The free event is made possible by barbers volunteering their time and Target, which donated school supplies.
