Kids At La Rabida Children's Hospital Get Special Visit From Easter Bunny

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some patients at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago had a special visitor this Easter.

The Easter Bunny made the rounds at around 10 a.m., handing out personalized baskets to 26 children at La Rabida.

Tykeshia Clark of Roseland says she was grateful for the distraction for her daughter, 10-year-old Sykirah Heard.

"It made her happy, so you know that's pretty much what matters," Clark said. "It was nice to see that they did something for the kids."

Sykirah has been hospitalized for about a month after she went into cardiac arrest and a medically induced coma.

Clark says the children really appreciate the Easter Bunny's visit.

Jessica Brown, mother of two-year-old Samir Brown, who is hospitalized with second and third degree burns, says while her son was afraid of the Easter Bunny, she appreciates the visit.

"It makes me feel great," she said. "I see that he's here smiling with his family, enjoying his time here so that's good for me."

A La Rabida spokeswoman says the baskets were donated by a Girl Scout troop.
