Kerry Wood Hints At Retirement
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Cubs reliever Kerry Wood told WBBM Newsradio's George Ofman Wednesday that he'll likely retire if the new Cubs general manager doesn't want to re-sign him.
"We're getting close anyways and yeah, I think I'm through dragging the family across the country and the kids have started school now. I've done that long enough and it's time to stay home," Wood said.
The former starting pitcher is in his 13th year in the majors and his 10th year with the Cubs. He also spent time with the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians in 2009 and 2010. Wood has a 3.64 career ERA with a 85-73 record and 63 career saves.
