Kendall County Sheriff's Deputy Rescues Woman After Car Drives Into Retention Pond
(CBS) -- A Kendall County sheriff's deputy jumped into a frigid pond early Friday in Oswego to save the life of a woman who, police say, lost control of her car while driving drunk, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.
Deputy Tyler Johnson was first at the scene where a car drove into a retention pond at Stonewater Lane and Washington Street just before 2 a.m. Friday.

The car was about 100 feet offshore and sinking. Johnson swam out to the vehicle in water that was just above freezing. After several attempts the department says, he was able to break out the rear window and get the driver out before the car became fully submerged.
The woman is identified 50-year-old Paula Mason who lives nearby. Both Mason and the deputy were taken to be checked out. Mason was charged with drunk driving.
