Kasper: Doesn't Make Sense For Cubs To Get Fielder
(WSCR) Now that the Albert Pujols domino has fallen, it's only a matter of time before Prince Fielder's goes, too.
There have been conflicting reports detailing the Cubs' level of interest in the free-agent slugger, but one Cubs expert doesn't think it would make sense for the Cubs to bring in a $100-plus million free agent.
"No, not based on everything they've said and everything they've done to this point," Cubs radio man Len Kasper told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "I just don't think it makes sense to do that. I think this team can compete this year. It sounds like they'll hang on to Matt Garza, but it sounds like they're open to talking to anybody. I think it's 'Big picture, big picture, big picture. Let's do this the right way. Let's not quick-fix it.' That's what they've said since Day One and I think they are going to really hold true to that."
