Kane Might Not Be Ready For Training Camp
(CBS) When Patrick Kane underwent wrist surgery July 19, the team doctor said he would have "a full return to activity" in six to eight weeks, which meant the winger was expected to be back in time for training camp.
General manager Stan Bowman solidified that prognosis Monday when he told CSNChicago.com's Tracey Myers that Kane was "doing great, right on schedule."
But Kane had a bleaker prognosis when asked about it Tuesday on a radio appearance on FAN 590 in Toronto.
"I still have a little cast on so it's probably a little bit longer. I'm not really going to rush anything, we still have a lot of time," Kane said. "My goal is to be ready for the opening regular-season game. Obviously, you'd like to be back in training camp but more importantly the date is Oct. 7 for our first regular season game. That's kind of the date I'm working for. There's really no rush because things are going pretty well right now."
Obviously the Blackhawks would prefer to have Kane in training camp as he's only been able to skate by himself during the offseason.
