Kane County Forest Preserve Looks For Acorn Donations
GENEVA, Ill. (CBS) -- The Kane County Forest Preserve District wants your acorns.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Berner reports, oak trees are not reproducing very well this year in the wild. For that reason, the Kane County Forest Preserve is asking everyone to collect the acorns from their yards, and drop them off at the Forest Preserve offices at 1996 S. Kirk Rd. in Geneva.
The district hopes to grow trees and plant them in the preserves.
Those willing to pitch in should grab a paper bag, collect the acorns, put them inside, label the bag with the kind of tree, and then drop them off at the Kane County offices.
The district says it has 3,000 acres that need trees for which they could use the acorns.
