Kane County Flea Market Vendor Agrees To Remove Offensive Material
(CBS) – The managers of the Kane County Flea Market are apologizing for what they call a brief lapse of judgment by a vendor.
He displayed a flag with a swastika, the symbol of Nazi Germany, and apparently also a Confederate flag.
It turns out the dealer was selling war memorabilia, and he agreed to remove the item.
"This was not a dealer making a political statement. It was a dealer selling war memorabilia who, when questioned, recognized the potential hurt it would cause. He was quickly receptive to the education and ensured it was no longer on display," a flea market official said in a prepared statement.
Last month, another offensive display was removed. It was a handwritten sign for a "transgender bathroom" – pointing down to a five-gallon bucket.
