Kane County Courthouse Expands Security Screenings To Cops, Attorneys
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (CBS) -- The Kane County Courthouse is increasing security, which may surprise regulars not used to being screened.
As WBBM Newsradio's John Waelti reports, the courthouse in St. Charles is increasing security, but not in response to any known threats.

Kane County Sheriff Patrick Perez says he is just trying to be proactive, and he is not going soft on mainstays in the courthouse either – including attorneys and armed police officers, the Daily Herald reported.
The newspaper reports while ordinary citizens will all still have to go through security, every fifth person with a court badge or attorney's card will also have to go through metal detectors.
Previously, those with passes were allowed to bypass security in a separate line.
Perez told the Daily Herald one of his own lieutenants who was in full uniform had to go through security as he came to court recently.
It may be considered a sign of the times, and a ready-made excuse for any habitually late barristers.
