Juvenile Charged With Double Homicide In Grand Crossing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A boy has been charged with killing two South Side teenagers and wounding a third in a Grand Crossing neighborhood drive-by shooting last week.
The boy, whose name was not released because he is a minor, faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm for the attack that happened about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 5, Chicago Police announced Tuesday night.
Three teens were walking in the 7600 block of South Dorchester when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside started shooting, police said at the time.
Donta Parker, 16, was shot in the head and 17-year-old Sakinah Reed was shot twice in the chest, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they later died.
Another 16-year-old boy shot in the hand and ankle was taken to St. Bernard Hospital. He was treated and later released, police said.
Parker lived in the 7800 block of South Cregier, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Reed was from the 9000 block of South Burley.
Investigators think the shooting was gang-related.
The boy charged with the shooting was scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday.
