Jury Selection Underway In Trial Of Former Crestwood Water Official
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Underway at this hour, jury selection in the case of contaminated water in far south suburban Crestwood, reports WBBM's John Cody.
Crestwood Water Supervisor Theresa Neubauer is charged with 11 counts of making false statements about a water cover-up in Crestwood which said it was giving residents clean, Lake Michigan water and not telling residents or regulators that it was saving money using carcinogen-contaminated water from a pump in nearby Alsip.
Jury Selection Underway In Trial Of Former Crestwood Water Official
Water operator Frank Scaccia has already pleaded guilty, saying he was just following orders of the mayor, who has not been charged.
Neubauer who is on leave as police chief, has pleaded not guilty at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse, where opening statements could begin this afternoon.
