Judge Candidate Accused Of Stealing Campaign Signs
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A prosecutor who's running for judge in Lake County, Ill., is under investigation--accused by the incumbent's supporters of stealing his campaign signs.
The allegation from Republicans who support Judge Luis Berrones: That Democratic challenger Patricia Fix stole Berrones' campaign signs and had them in her car.
Lake County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Wayne Hunter says the office is investigating the accusations against Fix, who is a prosecutor in the Lake County State's Attorney's office.
"The Lake County Sheriff's office received a tip Tuesday afternoon that Assistant State's Attorney Pat Fix had possession of stolen campaign signs - campaign signs belonging to Judge Berrones," Hunter said.
Deputy Hunter says the sheriff's investigators have not yet been able to speak with Patricia Fix, who's been off work at the state's attorney's office.
