JonBenet Ramsey Remembered By Michigan Town 20 Years After Her Murder
CHICAGO (CBS) — It's been 20 years since child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in her family's Colorado home.
In Charlevoix, Michigan, a lakefront tourist town where the Ramsey family used to summer, CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards found no one has forgotten the little girl who was crowned "Little Miss Charlevoix" the year before her murder.
"I remember the very moment," says Dolly Abbey, former pageant director. "I knew that little girl. She was my queen."
Dennis Halverson, the police chief in Charlevoix at the time JonBenet Ramsey was killed, coordinated the Michigan investigation.
"I was following up on, from a state perspective on psychic revelations," he says, adding that information obtained from two searches of the family's Michigan home is still under seal. "I'm probably the only investigator on this case that's actually met Jon-Benet Ramsey."
Abbey says, "I see the picture with her little crown on and I think – where'd that little girl go? It's sad – you look at her and really think, where did that young child go? What really happened to her. I don't know."
