JonBenét Ramsey Investigators Went To Michigan Town To Search For Evidence

CHICAGO (CBS) — Charlevoix is one of Michigan's most exclusive resort towns – it's where it's they bulldoze big homes to make room for McMansions.

It's also where the family of murdered child beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey spent their summers.

Twenty years ago, Mary Beth Kur was the top prosecutor in Charlevoix.

She believes an initial botching of the crime scene at the Ramsey's home in Boulder, Colorado – where the girl was found dead in 1996 – may have jeopardized the case forever.

After Ramsey's death, investigators came to Charlevoix looking for clues.

"They were looking for historical, unrehearsed writing samples of (mother) Patsy Ramsey," Kur says.

JonBenét Ramsey was a former "Little Miss Charlevoix," crowned the summer before her murder – and before her parents came under suspicion in her death.

"I saw nothing but love," Dolly Abbey, director of Miss Charlevoix, says about the young girl's parents.
