Jonathan Toews Leaves Game After Hit Sends Him Face-First Into Boards
(CBS) Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews left midway through the second period of Thursday's contest against the Bruins after a hit from Boston defenseman Dennis Seidenberg sent him face-first into the boards.
Toews didn't initially leave the ice, instead staying on for an ensuing power play. Later, he left the game and was ruled out for good. Blackhawks assistant coach Mike Kitchen said on the CSN Chicago broadcast that it was for precautionary reasons. The extent of the injury isn't yet known.
Toews' 23 points are second on the team.
