Johnson: 'A Bad Pattern For Derrick'

(WSCR) Derrick Rose has already missed 22 games this season due to injury and he could miss his 23rd Tuesday night against the Knicks.

The Bulls point guard tweaked his ankle in Sunday's loss and is yet again a game-time decision for tonight's matchup.

"It's weird because we all know he finished the game (on Sunday,)" K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "He took the last shot and he played close to 40 minutes. We talked to him afterward about the groin and he said the groin was fine. He didn't appear to be walking with a limp in the locker room at all. ... I think it's something were he tweaked it and it swelled up over night. I was told he went in for treatment yesterday. They do the walking boot as a precautionary thing. It's a bad pattern for Derrick. It's remarkable how often it has happened this season, given how injury-free he was his first three seasons."

The Bulls will face the Knicks tonight and the Heat on Thursday -- two games that could serve as previews for the playoffs.

"This organization has become very tight-lipped about injuries this season," Johnson said. "I don't even know how many answers we'll get today, but the bottom line is he was in a walking boot yesterday. We're back to questioning whether or not he'll be able to play tonight. This is a pretty big week for the Bulls. You got the Heat coming in Thursday. It's just bad timing for a team that has struggled with injuries this season."
