Joel Quenneville Inks 3-Year Extension With Blackhawks
(CBS) The Blackhawks have signed coach Joel Quenneville to a three-year extension, the team announced Tuesday, extending his deal through the 2019-'20 season.
Quenneville has a record of 343-168-69 in 580 games across eight seasons as coach of the Blackhawks and has led the team to three Stanley Cup titles, the only active coach with such an accomplishment on his resume. His regular-season points percentage of .651 is the best in franchise history.
Quenneville, 57, is in his 19th season as an NHL coach, with a record of 781-451-77-110. He also served as head coach of the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.
The Blackhawks currently own the third-best record in hockey at 27-13-4, with 58 points to their name. They're just four points shy of the Dallas Stars, who own the best record in the NHL and lead the Central Division. Chicago takes the ice on Tuesday night when it hosts the Nashville Predators.
