Jereme Richmond Arrested Again
(CBS) Former Illinois Mr. Basketball Jereme Richmond has been arrested again.
The 21-year-old Richmond was ordered back to jail Friday morning after he was accused of making threats against his probation officer.
The Waukegan native and former member of the Fighting Illini men's basketball team was weeks away from completing his probation on an earlier weapons charge. Now, however, he faces new felony charges of witness harassment and disorderly conduct that could land him in jail for years.
Prosecutors allege Richmond confronted his probation officer, asking why he was being taken back to court before telling her to "be safe." Richmond then left the building and circled the parking several times, while making a hand gesture in the form of a gun.
On Friday morning, a judge ordered Richmond held in Lake County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
