Jensen: Hanie Can Be An NFL Starter
(WSCR) An unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, the opportunity to quarterback the Bears couldn't have come at a better time for Caleb Hanie.
The time table for Jay Cutler's return is still unknown, so, essentially, Hanie has the opportunity to audition in front of the other 29 NFL teams.
"I think Caleb Hanie has a terrific opportunity," Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times told The Boers and Bernstein Show. "The Bears don't have one of the best offense in the NFL, but they have plenty of talent. He's got an opportunity to show that he does belong. Based on what I've seen from Caleb Hanie and what I've seen from other quarterbacks who have started this season, I absolutely think that Caleb Hanie has the talent to be a starter in the NFL. I love his mobility. I think he can make most of the throws that you need to make. I don't think he can make the elite throws like Jay Cutler or the Tom Bradys can make, but I think he can make more than a lot of the quarterbacks that are out there."

Jensen pointed to Hanie's lack of experience as the reason for his at-times questionable decision making.
"That's his thing, the decision making," Jensen said. "Is that unusual for a guy who has had as little playing time as him to have some questionable decision making? I don't think so. He did some positive things in the second half, unfortunately, all the mistakes that he made in the first half put them in a position where they couldn't dig themselves out of it."
