Jennings: Man Coverage 'Gives Us Confidence'
(WSCR) The new-found way of playing more than just the Cover 2 defense has brought out confidence in one Bears cornerback.
"It means a lot to us," Tim Jennings told The McNeil and Spiegel Show on Wednesday. "It means a lot to the defense because I think it gives the rush a little bit more time to get to the quarterback. When our rush gets to the quarterback, it kind of makes our job a little bit easier. It gives me and Charles (Tillman) and the rest of the corners (the chance) to step up, and gives us a great deal of confidence that the coaches believe in us. It makes the game plan a little bit more effective."

Now that the Bears are switching up their coverages between Cover 2 and man coveragw, it creates one more thing for opposing offenses to prepare for.
"It gives them another split hesitation." Jennings said. "Everybody expects us to play the Tampa 2, Cover 2 defense when preparing for us. When we can show and do different looks, it gives the quarterback an illusion. If they think we're going to be in Cover 2, it might buy us another second or two for the defensive rush to get there."
