Jeff Santo: 'He Would've Been Crying Like A Little Kid'
(WSCR) The much-awaited announcement came, just a year and two days two late.
A little more than a year after Jeff Santo laid his father to rest, Ron Santo was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame by the Golden Era committee.
"We were all there with him through all the hardships he went through -- with the battles with diabetes and his legs, and then every time the Hall came up, we knew how much he wanted it," Jeff Santo told The Mully and Hanley Show on Tuesday. "I gotta tell you, he would've been crying like a little kid. I know it. We just know how much he wanted it. Being acknowledged by baseball that you're one of the greats forever, it's something that we wish we could've seen on his face."

Jeff said the fact that his father wasn't alive to see his enshrinement made the news bittersweet, but ultimately, he was glad his father finally found a place in Cooperstown.
"I'm still wondering if it's real," Jeff said. "All the times that he got rejected over the years, and then to finally get in after he passed, yeah, it is sad in that part. Still, we were filled with so many emotions when we heard the news. We just couldn't believe it. It felt like our father was with us. ... It just feels good that he's there."
