Jay Cutler Inactive For Bears; Alshon Jeffery To Play
By Chris Emma--
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will miss his second straight game Sunday as he recovers from a thumb sprain. It will be Brian Hoyer leading the Bears against the Lions.
Hoyer will have the presence of his top receiving target, Alshon Jeffery. Despite being limited in practice with a hamstring and knee injury, Jeffery will play.
Bears coach John Fox listed Cutler as doubtful to play in the team's final injury report. He returned to work in a limited role Wednesday and didn't work Thursday or Friday.
"We just didn't want to aggravate it more," Fox said last week, confirming that Cutler was held out to ensure healing.
Initial timetables suggested that Cutler would miss two to three weeks with the injury suffered in Week 2. It stands possible that he could be ready to return in time for next Sunday's contest with the Colts.
Once again, the Bears featured a lengthy injury report that included many key starters. Fox even missed Wednesday's practice due to a stomach bug.
The Bears' inactives include Cutler, Jeremy Langford (ankle), Eddie Goldman (ankle), Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), Danny Trevathan (thumb), Deon Bush (hamstring) and Eric Kush, a healthy scratch.
Kickoff between the Bears (0-3) and Lions (1-2) comes at noon from Soldier Field.
