Itasca Residents Complain O'Hare Noise Has Gotten Worse
(CBS) --We've heard lots of noise complaints at O'Hare Airport over the years, but now those gripes are coming far from the airport.
Some homeowners in west suburban Itasca say over the last three months they can't have a conversation in their driveways – and that's four miles from the western edge of the airport.
CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports.
The mayor's mother, Nancy Pruyn, has kept a log of the disruptions – planes every two minutes -- and says: "It was never as bad as it is right now."
This week, the FAA declined a request to hold additional hearings, saying their initial evaluation, including noise assessment, was comprehensive.
Officials add they are re-evaluating a portion of the airport build-out because one runway is being constructed in a different order then first anticipated.
Lawmakers like Chicago Congressman Mike Quigley are working to pressure FAA officials to revisit the issue.
