A man has been charged in a deadly stabbing earlier this week on the North Side of Chicago.

Irving Martinez-Hernandez, 30, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Juan Carlos Tello-Suarez.

Police said, shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the 3500 block of North Sunnyside Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood for a report of a stabbing.

Investigators learned Martinez-Hernandez and Tello-Suarez had gotten into a fight, and Martinez-Hernandez had stabbed Tello-Suarez multiple times.

Tello-Suarez was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Martinez-Hernandez was arrested just over an hour after the stabbing, and was due to make his first court appearance on Saturday.
