Invasion Of The Cheeseheads Begins
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Green Bay Packers fans weren't wasting any time getting to Chicago in plenty of time for Sunday's Bears-Packers NFC Championship Game at Soldier Field.
As CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports, many Packers fans were already checked in at downtown hotels Saturday afternoon and several Packers parties were underway.
One of the biggest was at the Hyatt Regency on Wacker Drive, where Packers fans were decked out in green and gold at the hotel's Big Bar.
Earlier Saturday, fans greeted the Packers as they arrived at their hotel in downtown Chicago around 3 p.m.
Packers fans came into the city by the busload for the big playoff showdown. To say they were already set for the game would be an understatement.
"We're predicting a big win. Yep. 28 to 3," Packers fan Greg Duerr said. "This is a big game. Packers and Bears haven't played in the NFC Championship since 1941. It's a big game, we go to the Super Bowl. It's something we've been looking forward to all year. I think we're gonna win."
Fellow Packers fan Roseanne Hollinger said, "I have a lot of respect for the Bears. I really do. We both want to get to the Super Bowl. May the better team tomorrow make it there."
Sunday's Bears-Packers matchup is the first playoff game between the two teams since 1941. Although the Bears are the home team, oddsmakers in Las Vegas have the Packers favored by 3.5 points.
