Infinite Diversion Wins 104th Race To Mackinac
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There are still a number of boats out on the lake, but the winner of the Chicago Yacht Club's Race to Mackinac finished Sunday night.
As WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports, Infinite Diversion won the 104th race to Mackinac in weather conditions that were quite different from last year.
Light winds stalled many of the roughly 350 yachts making the 333-mile trek.
Storms last year are blamed for the deaths of two sailors whose boat capsized -- the first fatalities in the history of the oldest freshwater distance race in the world.
That prompted changes in the race including requiring more experience for skippers and suggestions of safety training for the crews.
