Inbound Eisenhower Closed At Canal Street After Fatal Expressway Shooting
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The inbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway are shut down near Canal Street, as Illinois State Police investigate a fatal shooting on the roadway Friday afternoon.
CBS 2's Marissa Parra reports the Chicago Fire Department confirms the man who died was in his 20s. CPD said the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 290 near Canal Street.
Chicago Fire Department officials confirmed the 20-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in grave condition and later pronounced dead.
All inbound lanes were closed while police investigate. Investigators were also checking out a different car, a hatchback, with a shot out window.
A man was carried out of the hatchback by paramedics and taken into an ambulance. Two cars that are of interest to police as authorities try to figure out what happened.
Eastbound lanes remain closed at Canal Street.
