Illinois' Wilson Earns Big Ten Award
(CBS) Illinois' cornerback Tavon Wilson earned the Big Ten defensive player of the week for his performance in Saturday's win over Indiana.
Wilson returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown to give Illinois a lead and carry it to a 41-20 victor, leading the team to its first 6-0 start since 1951.
He recorded a team-high 11 tackles and career-best 3 1/2 tackles for loss, including a sack, while earning Illinois sixth Big Ten award this season.
Wilson was named national defensive performer of the week and national defensive back of the week by the College Football Performance Awards.
The organization also awarded the national wide receiver of the week award to A.J. Jenkins, for his six catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns against Indiana.
