Illinois Falls Short To Indiana
Illinois had a strong push to beat Indiana Thursday night, leading the first half and holding their own during the second. The Indiana Hoosiers took the lead and held Illinois in their place during the final 40 seconds.
Jordan Hulls scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half, and Tom Pritchard's tip-in with 44.2 seconds left helped Indiana upset No. 20 Illinois 52-49 on Thursday night.
The Hoosiers (11-10, 2-6 Big Ten) ended a 19-game losing streak against ranked opponents.
Mike Davis had 14 points for the Illini (14-7, 4-4), who lost four of five.
It wasn't easy.
The Hoosiers didn't score for the first 5:57 of the second half and didn't regain the lead until Hulls' 3-pointer with 7:36 left made it 41-39. His next 3 gave the Hoosiers a 46-42 lead with 5:01 to go, but the Illini scored seven straight points to make it 49-46 with 2:43 left.
Christian Watford then hit two free throws and Pritchard's tip-in gave Indiana a 50-49 lead. Hulls made two fee throws and Illinois missed two 3s to end it.
